INGREDIENTS: Organic Licorice Root (Glycyrrhiza uralensis or Glycyrrhiza glabra)

Used most commonly as a flavoring or for medicinal use, licorice root is one of the most widely used herbs worldwide for respiratory and digestive support. It is taken to soothe a variety of ailments including heartburn, stomach ulcers, digestive discomfort, sore throat, and coughs. Licorice has a distinctive flavor and sweetness that comes from the glycyrrhizin that composes up to 25% of the root's makeup. It is often likened to the flavor of anise and fennel seeds.
Licorice has a distinctive flavor and sweetness. It can be prepared as a tea, tincture, or taken encapsulated.

The licorice plant is a herbaceous perennial legume that grows best in well-drained soils in full sun. The root system consists of one main, deep taproot with several horizontal roots branching out. The roots are harvested after the end of the third year of growth.

 

USES: Use as a tea, or powdered supplement. As a tea steep 1 tsp (3grams) in hot water. Or use as a powdered supplement in smoothies.

 

SAFETY & DOSAGE:  While generally considered safe to take, not recommended for use in persons with hypertension, liver disorders, edema, severe kidney insufficiency, low blood potassium, or heart disease. Always consult your health care practitioner prior to using any herbal supplement, particularly if you are on any other medication, pregnant or breast feeding.

As with any new product always test for sensitvities.

 

STORAGE: Store sealed in a cool dry place, no need for refrigeration.
